Debate Announcement

I will once again have an interblog debate, this time it is about the doctrine of Purgatory. My opponent is Mr. Abraham Llera, who is obviously a Roman Catholic. You can learn more about him in his blog here.

I might have some more revisions till our Feb 5 dealine, but this would probably be minor.

I've been making last-minute insertions, particularly Bible proof. Nothing major. Please consider my opening statement definitive as at 3 PM today Feb 5. Beyond 3 PM. no more changes.

to sir gerry di po ako masyadong marunong mag ingles pero meron po akong alam na mga talata sa biblia patungkol sa purgatorio.meron pong kasing nakasulat sa bibliang prostestante ibig ko pong sabihin ung bible na walang deuteracanonical na lingkod ng DIOS na ipinanalangin ung mga patay at meron din pong nakasulat sa biblia mababasa natin ang purgatorio

Logical Fallacies

Some of the articles written here expose the logical errors of arguments written by advocates of false doctrines. Certain arguments are flawed not because of wrong facts, but rather false logic. You may see terminologies describing the logical fallacies which you may not understand. To help you better comprehend what these are, here is the list of the most frequently occuring logical errors with a brief description and example:

1. Ad hominem - attacking the person instead of the argument. Ex. "Andres Bonifacio is not a mathematician so he is in no position to say one plus one equals two."

2. Begging the Question (or arguing in circles) - a). an argument where the conclusion is supported by a questionable basis or premise. Ex. "The Church of Rome is infallible so their teaching about the Immaculate Conception is true." b). an argument where truthfulness of two or more subjects are dependent on each other. Ex. "The Bible is true because the church says so. The church is true because the Bible says so."

3. Equivocation - using different meanings for the same word. Ex. "God is love, love is blind, therefore God is blind."

4. False Dichotomy - restricting the opponent to a few alternatives when there are more alternatives. Ex. "Show me a verse that exactly says God is a Trinity."

Concise Articles of Faith

1. There is one God who revealed Himself in three distinct but equal persons namely, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
2. God is eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent
3. Man is created in the image of God but rebelled and fell in to sin.
4. Jesus Christ is both God and man.
5. Jesus Christ was incarnated through virgin birth.
6. Jesus Christ died for our sins on the cross and was resurrected.
7. The death of Christ is sufficient for the sinner's redemption. Nothing can be added to this work completed by Christ.
8. The sinner is justified by faith alone in Jesus Christ. Works cannot earn salvation but it is the result of faith.
9. Christ established his church for which He is the head and which the body consist of all those who believe in Him.
10. Jesus Christ will come again to judge the living the dead.
11. The Bible is the inspired word of God and is sufficient to serve as the sole rule of faith and morals.
12. The Holy Spirit works in the lives of all Christians as a living and powerful guide of the faith.
